Algorithmic Penalties

Algorithmic Penalties is general term referred to negative impact caused on website after search engine algorithmic updates, such as Google Updates. Algorithmic Penalties from Google mainly have impact on those websites which does not adhere to Google Webmaster Guidelines Or use black-hat SEO techniques.

Bad Links

Bad Links sometimes also referred as low quality or spammy links in general are the links which are non-earned backlinks OR built by link spamming tactics such as spam or buying links from low quality bad/spammy web properties.

Disavow Links

Disavow Links means to notify Google Algorithm not to count or consider some links from external sites, to rank websites. Disavow Links is used to discount those links which webmasters think can harm their websites and they are unable to get removed by all means of manual outreach with webmasters.

Disavow File

Disavow file is the .txt format file with preset format containing links which you want to disavow or discounted from Google Algorithm. Disavow file should be in .txt format and it must be encoded in UTF-8 or 7-bit ASCII. “domain:example.com” used to discount all links from example.com domain, while individual links can be mentioned one per line. # is used as comment tag to tell Google what action was taken before Disavow that link.

Disavow Links Tool

Disavow Tool from Google, is webmaster tool to disavow the links which you have selected to discount from Google algorithm after manual cleanup process. These links may be the links which acquired as a result of doing bad SEO, Negative SEO, or low quality bad links which violate Google Webmaster Guidelines. TXT format is used in Disavow Tool in preset format to disavow one or all links from any domain name.

Google Penguin

Google Penguin is name given to Google Algorithm rolled out on April 24, 2012, aimed to decrease search engine rankings for the websites which manipulate Google results by using Black HAT SEO or violating Google webmaster Guidelines with link schemes, and spam factors including keyword stuffing and over optimization. The last update was termed as Penguin 2.1 (#5)on October 4, 2013

Google Panda

Google Panda is the Google’s algorithm effecting the ranking of sites in its search results. It was first released in February 2011. This was launched by Google with the aim to lower the rankings of low quality sites.Many advance versions of this algo has been released thereafter effecting many websites.

On its 15th Birthday Google announced its new algorithm Hummingbird. It is the largest Google algorithm update in last three years. In this they are trying to make the search more user interactive. This algorithm can make use of more complex search request and has better human understanding.Google Hummingbird aims to make the search more Human friendly.

Link profile is a common word been used these days. But what does this mean? It means the elements which are part of the backlinks of a website. These comprise of all the links which are pointing to your website be it paid, exchanged, free or any type of link connection.

Links Profile Audit

Doing analysis of the back links of a website is known as links profile audit. One needs to do timely checks of all the links which are associated with your website to make sure that your link profile is clean and made up of good quality top links.

Links Auditor

The person who does the back link profile analysis and website profile audit is know as the links auditor. The job of the link auditor is to find out which are the good links pointing to a website and which are bad ones.

Link Schemes

Link Schemes are the tactics deployed to buy, purchase or exchange links with the intentions of manipulating a website ranking in the search results of Google. Link schemes includes any behavior which may be employed either via incoming or outgoing links from your site. It can be manual methods, paid or even by use of software.

Manual Spam Penalty

Manual spam penalty is the message given by Google in the Webmaster Tool Section if your site is involved in any type of spam activity. Manual webspam team checks the links profile of sites and then takes this action. This penalty shows in the “Manual Actions” section under “Search Traffic”

Negative SEO

Negative SEO is the process of identifying the weakness of a website and exploiting it. It also means deploying strategies so as to harm a website with use of bad black hat link building or SEO methods.

Reconsideration Request

If your site is not doing good in search results or not performing as good as before or it was under penalty before and now you believe that it is no longer violating any Webmaster Guidelines then you can file a Reconsideration Request with Google to get the site reviewed again.
